Chapter 5: Marketing with Instagram

Hello readers in this week's chapter we talked about marketing on the popular social media outlet Instagram.  Instagram has evolved into one of the most powerful tools for businesses to connect with their audience. With over a billion active users, Instagram offers a unique opportunity for brands to build a following, engage with customers, and boost sales. The key to success lies in understanding how Instagram's algorithm works, especially when it comes to business accounts. Setting up an Instagram Business Account is the first step toward optimizing your social media strategy. These accounts offer a wealth of features designed for businesses, such as detailed analytics, contact buttons, and the ability to run ads. Most importantly, business accounts give you access to the algorithm’s tailored tools that can help you reach a wider and more relevant audience. One of the most powerful features is Instagram Insights, which provides data...

Week 6: Back Pains

Hello readers we are on week 6 and since I liked talking about the lower body lifts last week I want to talk about it again more specifically my squats. Squatting is one of the ultimate tests of strength, a movement that demands immense power, discipline, and form. And this week I hit a personal best, by squatting 515 pounds, a feat many players strive for in their careers. But sometimes you find out the reward of pushing yourself to the limit can come with an unexpected cost like severe lower back pain. The adrenaline rush and sense of accomplishment were felt instantly. The weight felt heavy on my back as I descended into the squat, but I powered through it, rising back up with strength. It felt like I really progressed in strength. However, as the day wore on, a strong pain started creeping into my lower back. The back pain was not felt right away. At first, I thought it was just the usual tiredness that comes with a heavy lift. But as hours passed, it became...

Chapter 4: Marketing with Facebook

In today’s digital age, creating a solid social media brand is more important than ever. Especially on Facebook, with over 2.9 billion active users, is a vital platform for businesses and creators alike to establish their brand presence and market themselves. But using pieces from the chapter I want to talk about how you can effectively build and grow your brand on Facebook. The key lies in utilizing Facebook’s suite of tools under Meta to improve your reach and enhance engagement with your target audience. 1. Define Your Brand’s Identity The first step to building a brand on Facebook is to define your brand identity. This includes setting a clear tone, voice, and visual style for your content. Whether you’re a small business, a content creator, or a community group, consistency is vital. Your brand should be easily recognizable through its logo, color scheme, and messaging. Make sure your Facebook Page is optimized with a professional profile picture, banner,...

Week 5: Leg Day

Hello readers, today is the 5th week of off season training and today I’m talking about our leg day lift. Leg day is always a highlight in our summer workouts. For anyone who plays football, strengthening the lower body is absolutely necessary for both power and performance. Today’s workout was all about pushing the limits and leaving everything in the weight room. For Coach Walker each workout is always about building explosive power, endurance, and stability, but today’s focus was on squats and hang cleans, two lifts that are integral to both our training and on-field performance.  We started with hang cleans, which are one of the best exercises to build explosive power, especially for football players. This lift best reproduces the movements involved in sprinting, cutting, and tackling. With a decent grip on the bar, I explosively pulled it up from a dead hang, quickly snapping my hips to create explosive speed and momentum. The barbell flies up, and you catch it at shoul...

Chapter 3: Social Media Marketing Strategy and Social Media Advertising

Hello readers, we are now on chapter 3 in our principles of Social Media class and it talks about “Social Media Marketing Strategy and Social Media Advertising.” In a society that is greatly dominated by technology, businesses are starting to increasingly rely on social media marketing to improve their online presence and connect with audiences. Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn offer lots of opportunities for brands to engage with potential customers. But, to make use of these platforms effectively, companies must develop a well rounded social media marketing strategy and distinguish it from social media advertising.      A successful social media marketing strategy focuses on long-term engagement and brand building. It involves creating valuable content, maintaining consistent communication, and creating relationships with followers. The goal is to give relevant information, share entertaining or educational posts...

Week 4: Weekend Fun turns into Sick Day

Hello to my readers, this past Saturday was one of those rare days where I actually wanted to go ahead and hang with my friends in this cold Ada weather. The weather was surprisingly not that bad for winter, and after a couple weeks of freezing temperatures, the weather made it feel like we were slowing but surely getting to spring. I was looking forward to hanging out with my close friends, especially since we usually didn’t have the time because we all don’t go to school at ONU so we haven’t had a chance to catch up in a while.      We decided to meet up at one of our favorite spots to eat in Ada called El Campo as the name might suggest it is a Mexican restaurant. It’s one of those places in Ada that actually feels like you can  just be calm and have a good time. With the smell of sizzling fajitas and spices in the air, we grabbed a table at campo that was in a pretty good spot. We spent hours chatting about life and how things have been for us...

Chapter 2: Personal Branding

For week 3 we learned about personal branding and in today’s digital world that is controlled by social media, creating your own personal brand is critical. It’s not just for up and coming entrepreneurs or influencers, it’s for anybody who wants to stand out and be unique, whether you're out job hunting or networking. Our personal brand is basically the way others perceive us, both online and offline, and it can greatly impact your professional success.      You may be asking yourself why it matters but your personal brand communicates your values, expertise, and personality. Your personal brand will set you apart from others in your industry or field and helps you gain acknowledgment. To put it in a better perspective, think about the people who have built strong personal brands throughout their careers: Jimmy Fallon, Oprah Winfrey, Marie Forleo. These peoples personal brands have a clear message, a consistent presence, and a real voice. But th...

Week 3: Morning Sprints

Hello again to my readers we are now on week 3 of spring training. This morning's conditioning session Coach Walker had for us definitely was a grind, but it was exactly what our football team needed to boost our game. We focused on two types of workouts: 100-yard sprints and speed drills—critical exercises for developing the speed and stamina (which we desperately need) that will take us through the toughest moments of the late season grind.      After we got done stretching we started off with the 100-yard sprints, a simple drill that always tests both our bodies endurance and mental toughness especially in the cold winter conditions. It’s a great conditioning drill for us because it’s one thing to be fast in short bursts, but it’s another to maintain that speed over an entire distance which is the design of this drill. Each sprint pushed us to dig deeper and really strain, forcing us to find that extra gear when we thought we couldn’t go any ...
